About Community Boating Center
The Community Boating Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit fostering safe small-boat recreation on Bellingham Bay. The CBC was founded by a core of local small-watercraft enthusiasts in 2007. The CBC is not a club. There are no memberships and no dues. Programs and services are available to all. Much-appreciated tax-deductible donations, season-pass sales, dry-moorage fees, and rentals of sailboats and human-powered watercraft enable the CBC to provide the safety and skills education that is the core of the organizationβs mission.

Two friends and I took the essentials of kayaking class taught by Shane. It was incredibly well taught. I came away with so much more confidence on the water and super proud of myself for successfully wet exiting and getting back in my boat. Shane was knowledgeable, engaging and fun. Iβll be taking more classes. 10/10

We took a guided 4-hour paddle around Bellingham Bay with these guys. It was perfect! The guides were great, the equipment was high-quality and in good condition, reservations were easy and communications were clear and prompt. An all-around great experience.

They added outriggers to my boat to make it be more stable for my balance disorder I definitely felt safe on the water, and Ginny was very attentive with helping me get in and out of the boat. We had to adjust the outriggers while on the water. Ginny was able to help on the water with that adjustment. They were able to give the right amount of help without me feeling called out for my disability.

3 friends and I lucked into a semi private bioluminescence tour at CBC lead by Ginny and Paige. Paige was our kayak leader/instructor, who taught us about splash skirts, how to paddle effectively, how to steer the tandem kayaks and general water safety. Covering all this with a cheeriness and kindness that was very reassuring. Ginny was our bioluminescence guide. Their enthusiasm and knowledge about dinoflagellates added immensely to the tour. The tour itself was a blast, we really lucked out with great conditions. We got to see a beautiful sunset, on a placcid/wind-free evening and even saw some whale spouts! This was my first time in a tandem kayak and that was fun as well. Ginny and Paige lead us to Bio Bay, where the light-producing plankton can be found. Ginny lead a fun floating lecture about dinoflagellates, before setting us free to play and explore the bay in search of living light. Finding the bioluminescence took some time at first because it wasn't quite dark enough to see. I found myself floating under a tree looking for ever more darkness. Under this tree I found the wonder of the dinoflagellates. It's difficult to describe their light, it felt like I was playing

Had a wonderful time at the Bioluminescence kayak tour. Our guides were Ginny and Paige. They were both great and we enjoyed spending time with them out on the water! It was a lovely night and the bioluminescence were amazing! We are so glad we splurged on this tour as part of our trip to Bellingham. Highly recommend!
